Just like Abel Tesfaye, Jake Atlas (AKA Terry D, Thriftworks—TDub for short) came up on a trilogy of mixtapes. This is the first. It includes perhaps my favorite three elements of Jake’s methodology: 1. Aesthetically pleasing, high octave vocalisations giving way to intense distortions.
2. So much glitch that conventional notions of musical representation and meaning mash into a ground powder good for little but snorting or capping out for mass distribution.
3. An excellent sense of balance.
